No ice usually means the ice maker isn't getting water, isn't cold enough to trigger a harvest, or the assembly itself has quit. On Frigidaire units the single most common cause is a failed ice maker assembly, with the mold thermostat inside it a close second.
Check these first
Safe to do yourself. Unplug the appliance before you start.
- Look at the wire bail arm and the Ice Off setting
If the metal arm above the bin is raised, the ice maker is switched off. People bump it while digging for ice or shoving in a bag of peas. Lower it, check the display panel for an Ice Off icon, then wait a full 24 hours before you judge anything.
- Put a thermometer in the freezer
Ice won't form properly above about 10°F. Set the freezer near 0°F, drop in an independent thermometer, then read it after four to six hours. If the real temperature is far off the setting, the problem is cooling, not the ice maker.
- Thaw the fill tube
The little tube that feeds water into the mold sits at the back of the ice maker and freezes shut after a power outage or a door left ajar. Warm it with a hair dryer on a low setting or trickle warm water from a turkey baster until it clears. This one fixes a lot of sudden no-ice calls, though if it refreezes within a few weeks the fill tube heater has likely failed.
- Change the water filter and purge the line
A filter past six months can starve the ice maker even while the dispenser still pours at normal speed. Swap it, make sure it clicks fully into the housing, then run a couple of gallons through the dispenser to push the air out.
- Check the supply line behind the fridge
Pushing the refrigerator tight to the wall kinks the plastic line more often than you'd think. Pull the unit out and follow the tube back to the shutoff valve, which should be open all the way.
- Run the test cycle
Most Frigidaire ice makers have a test or reset button on the module. Hold it about three seconds. The tray should rotate, try to fill, then eject. Grinding, a stall halfway, or dead silence points at the assembly.

How do I reset a Frigidaire ice maker?
Hold the test or reset button on the ice maker module for about three seconds until the tray starts to turn. Give it 24 hours after that, because the first batch following a reset always takes longer than normal.
Why does my water dispenser work but I get no ice?
The inlet valve has two separate solenoids, one for the dispenser and one for the ice maker, so the ice side can fail on its own. A frozen fill tube causes the same pattern.
